About Us

DC Angus is a family owned and operated purebred Red Angus farm located near Daysland, Alberta. Harold Midbo purchased the first Red Angus cows in 1974 and since then the herd has continued to grow and develop with purchases from Emerald Echo Farm, Ron Myshaniuk, and Almar Angus. Over the years, herd sires have been purchased from Geis Angus, Bar-E-L Angus, and U2 Ranch. The second generation family Dennis and Carolyn Congdon are currently managing the farm which now consists of 150 breeding females. The herd continues to grow with the help of their daughter Courtney and her husband Silvan.

Our farm originally started with a single mission: to raise females that would produce pounds. Market strains, as well as developments within the industry, have broadened our focus to genetic improvement with the use of tools such as genomic testing, AI using elite sires, and the use of the Verified Beef Program. The one thing that has not changed throughout the years is our focus on the mother cow and we pride ourselves in the group of females that we have raised.

If you are ever in the Daysland area, we’d love to have you over for coffee and a tour of our farm.
